Hello there and welcome! We are excited to share with you our first company blog post at Root16. In this inaugural post, we will share with you a little bit about who we are and where we’re going.
Root16 was founded on some pretty simple concepts:
- A return to our ‘roots’
- A focus on people
- Specialization (being an inch wide and a mile deep)
Simple enough ideas, but ones that we find are often lost in the larger consulting world. Allow us to expand on these briefly to explain why they are important to us.
1. Our roots
The four of us have worked together for the last 15 years. Most of that time was spent at a small consulting company, Sonoma Partners. We always loved the combination of a small company culture with world class, hands on technology consulting. With Root16, we are excited to follow our dreams of building on that experience with our own vision. We look forward to offering our clients a best in class consulting and implementation experience, without the overhead and expense of a big consulting company.
2. A focus on people
Consulting companies are unique in that we are typically not creating a physical product to sell, we are selling people. We define great consultants as people that are not only experts in their areas of specialization, but also know how to connect with our clients. So whether we’re talking about our employees or our customers, its critical we build and foster these relationships and keep them at the core of our business.
Employees
Our employees are the roots of our organization. Similar to roots of a tree, the strongest team will produce the best output. We know that employees who are happy and engaged will produce the best results and create the strongest solutions for our customers. We look for people that love solving problems and connect them with the customers that need problems solved.
Customers / Partners
If our employees are the roots of the tree, our customers are the branches. We value partnership and know from experience the most successful projects are those where we operate as true partners, a single team working towards a common goal. Our success is based on your success.
3. Specialization, being an inch wide and a mile deep
The four founders of Root16 all grew up in the Microsoft Dynamics ecosystem. We have all branched off into our own specialties, but have been rooted within Microsoft from day one. As we discussed the launch of Root16, we came to the conclusion that consultants that try to do everything, often struggle to do anything well. The “jack of all trades, master of none” approach doesn’t provide the impact we want to make with our clients. We’ve seen this first hand where generalists will throw around a lot of consultanty buzz words, with little understanding of your issues and challenges and even less business value. As a result, we’ve made the decision that we want to be extremely specialized in what we do (Microsoft Business Applications) and be the best around at doing it.
Please stay tuned…
We have a lot more we want to share with you, but figured we should keep these first posts short and sweet. Hopefully this provided you with a good understanding of who we are and directionally where we’re heading. Keep an eye on this space for posts around the Business Applications platform as well as some of our stories on building Root16 from the ground up (or should it be “down” with roots?).
Feel free to reach out to learn more about us, and stay tuned to our blog to hear more about our journey, product insights, best practices and tips and tricks.
Sincerest thanks,
Brad, Brendan, Corey and Jeff
